The Government announced that patients who are having a blood test and wish to be tested can request this. We would suggest that if a patient does wish to be tested they are provided with the necessary form and information required to understand the test and the interpretation of a positive or negative result.
The practice will need to inform them of their result but this could be by text or via an administrator and does not require clinical input providing they have received information in advance of testing to explain the implications of the result. Londonwide LMCs has produced a letter to give to patients to fulfil this requirement.
